Family of soldier with ALS given rental car to get back home after their car was stolen in Romulus

ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) - We have an update on the Army veteran who's truck was stolen in Metro Detroit during their visit to see a family on Friday.

Alma Cogdill got a pleasant surprise on Sunday afternoon. Her husband, Army Master Sgt. Anthony Cogdill is battling ALS, and had his truck stolen in Romulus during a visit to see their family.

After our first report on the missing white Ford 250 4x4, Channel 7 viewers stepped up in a big way.

A family stepped up to pay for a rental car for the Cogdill's to get back home to Tennessee.

“I just thank Channel 7 for exposing this. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t have been able to help this family," said Tammy Deford from Soldiers Around the World.

8-year-old Isabel was a part of the family that stepped up to pay for the rental car.

“My dad was just like, ‘Do you guys want to give some money, and I was like, ‘Yeah.’ Because I want to help out as much as I can because it’s hard being in that situation,” she said.

Hertz, the car company that they rented from waived the rental car fee, so all of the donated money will go towards gas and other expenses.
