Family says 54-year-old Larry Manolis who died in I-75 pileup loved Detroit and was always positive

(WXYZ) - The family of 54-year-old Menelaos "Larry" Manolis tells 7 Action News he loved the city of Detroit.

Manolis was one of the three people killed in the deadly massive pileup on I-75 on Thursday morning. A 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy from Ontario also died.

Larry's family says he loved the Tigers and the Red Wings-- and always had a positive attitude.

John Manolis says the Medical Examiner told him his brother's car was caught between a truck and a car hauler and was crushed beyond recognition.

Thirty vehicles were involved in the massive crash caused by a snow squall and whiteout conditions in southwest Detroit.

Larry Manolis lived alone and had no kids. His nephew Christos Michalakis is the president of the Metro Detroit AFO-CIO and provided Larry's photo to 7 Action News.
