Fire and rescue remain at the Bonduelle facility in Tecumseh (CAN), residents forced to evacuate

TECUMSEH, Ontario (WXYZ) - Tecumseh Fire and Rescue Services remain at the scene of the fire that started Friday at the Bonduelle facility, located at the corner of Tecumseh Road and Lacasse Blvd.

Windsor and Lakeshore Fire services are now assisting with additional fire control.

A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for residents between County Road 22 to the south, and St. Thomas Road to the north. Lesperance Road west to Manning Road remains in effect. 

Tecumseh Arena and St. Joseph's school is available to host residents. Social Services and the Red Cross are organizing resident reception at both locations.

Windsor Essex Humane Society will also be at these facilities to assist with pets.

Residents outside of the noted area are encouraged to stay indoors and to keep doors and windows closed.

The Bonduelle Plant is also known as the Old Green Giant Plant.

There is no word on how the fire started and no injuries have been reported.
