Fire breaks out on Detroit's southwest side

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A fire broke out at an abandoned two-story building early Thursday morning on Detroit's southwest side near Mexican Village.

7 Action News crews was at the scene to bring you footage of the flames that sparked near Vernor Hwy and Hubbard St. You can see video in the player above.

There is no word yet from firefighters indicating how the fire started, but police are calling it "suspicious."

Three fire engines were needed to control the flames, which lasted for over an hour and destroyed the building.

7 Action News was told that this is not the first time this building caught fire.

Police say no one was hurt and an investigation as to what caused the fire is underway.
