DETROIT (WXYZ) - Three firearm organizations are inviting gun owners and Second Amendment supporters to its Southeast Michigan regional picnic in downtown Detroit.
Michigan Open Carry Inc., Michigan Gun Owners and Michigan Coalition for Responsible Gun Owners are offering this picnic as a gathering to discuss current Second Amendment rights issues.
Members of leadership from each group will be present to answer questions and listen to gun owners' concerns.
A lawful open carry of a holstered handgun is encouraged by the groups, but not required. The organizations ask that no alcohol be brought to the event.
The picnic will be held June 14 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor.
In the past, there have been both supporters and critics of open carry picnics.
