ArtX comes to Detroit, a free five-day art experience

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Art X Detroit: Kresge Arts Experience is a free, five day arts experience happening April 10-14 in Detroit. There will be literary readings, visual artwork, dance and theatrical performances. It is funded by the Kresge Foundation.

There will be works and performances by Naomi Long Madgett and Bill Harris.

The Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the College for Creative Studies and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit are participating. A special visual art exhibit will run through April 28 at MOCAD.

The opening night of Art X Detroit will feature live dances at Wayne State University and the First Congressional Church.

Opening night also features a multi-venue celebration at MOCAD and the N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art April 10 from 6:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The reception is free. If interested, RSVP by April 8 at www.artxdetroit.com/opening-night or call 313-420-6000.
