There are staggering statistics when it comes to former foster children.
20% will be homeless after 19 years of age, 71% of women will become pregnant by their 21st birthday, only half will be employed by the age of 24 and 25% will be incarcerated within two years of leaving the foster care system.
The local non-profit "Friends of Foster Kids" aims to help children in and out of the foster care system with its 4th annual fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 26.
It will be held at the San Marino Club in Troy from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
