Google creates new tool to help educators

(WXYZ) - Google has announced a new tool that could help teachers simplify their workload.

Classroom is a new free tool in the Google Apps for Education suite.

The tech giant says Classroom helps teachers create and collect assignments, improve class communications and stay organized.

The tool weaves together Google Docs, Drive and Gmail so that teachers can create paperless classwork, they can also make announcements and ask questions of students in real time.

Classroom also creates drive folders for each assignment and each student, allowing them to easily see what is due and when.

Teachers and professors can now apply for a preview of Classroom. Google will then be inviting a number of educators to test it out.

Google says that by September, the tool will be available to any school using Google Apps for Education.
