DETROIT (AP) - Republican Gov. Rick Snyder has launched his bid for a second four-year term.
Snyder announced his bid for re-election on Monday at James Group International in Detroit. He also plans stops Monday in Lansing and Grand Rapids. About 50 protesters gathered outside his Detroit stop, including teachers and labor leaders.
Tuesday's events are in Traverse City, Frankenmuth and Farmington Hills.
Snyder's campaign unofficially began in the fall when he ran a TV ad and all but declared his candidacy to Republicans on Mackinac Island. He ran a second ad during Sunday's Super Bowl, which called him Michigan's "comeback kid."
Snyder's likely Democratic opponent, Mark Schauer, says he's out of touch. Schauer dubs the re-election launch a "rebranding tour."
