Grant Me Hope: Cordell is a fan of fishing, cooking & barbecuing

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Catfish better watch out when Cordell has a rod and reel.  The 14-year-old really enjoys fishing.

“I once caught a big fish. It was probably like that,” he said holding his hands up shoulder width apart.

And he’s candid about how the pastime helps him relax.

“The thing I like about fishing is that it calms me down and stuff when I get upset,” he explained.

He also likes playing video games, going out to eat, barbecuing and cooking.

One of his go-to pasta dishes is macaroni and cheese with hotdogs.

He also enjoys school.

“My favorite subject is math, social studies, history, gym, lunch and science,” he said.

He considers Christmas and his birthday his favorite holidays because everybody gets presents.

But he’s not a fan of cold weather.  He’s more of a warm temperature fan…mainly because he used to live in Oklahoma.

“I grew up on a farm.  I had to rake and feed the dogs, and feed the horses, the cows, the pigs. I grew vegetables and fruits,” said Cordell.

She really looks forward to being adopted.

“I think it would be nice to go into a new family,” he explained. “I’d like to be in a family with brothers and sisters. I will love them because I really love them because I need one. I’ll do anything I need to get one.”
