HOWELL, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan church youth group aims to collect 20,000 Bibles by mid-December for a nonprofit to distribute in Africa and India.
According to reports, the drive by the group at SonRise Church in Howell is for Fowlerville-based nonprofit Christian Resources International.
Fourteen-year-old Jordan Belanger says the youth group "just wanted to do something to get the name of God out there."
The deadline they've set is Dec. 20.
Over nearly six decades, Christian Resources International says it has donated $255 million in literature to 169 countries. Last year, it donated $4.5 million in Bibles and Christian teaching tools.
Bibles with a $1 donation attached to the inside cover to assist in distribution efforts may be dropped off at SonRise Church or Christian Resources International.
