(WXYZ) - People in Washington D.C. weren't the only ones celebrating the inauguration of President Barack Obama. In Southfield, people gathered at St. John Armenian Church to dance the night away and watch the inaugural festivities on the big screen.
The Oakland County Chapter of The Links, a women service organization, put on the event.
"So people are just having a throw-down good party," said Dr. Dierdre Waterman, the party organizer.
Many of the people in attendance say they were watching the coverage all day from the inauguration speech to the parade.
Some people from Michigan had the honor to march in the parade like the Military Spouses of Michigan.
"It was an incredible moment," said Jocelyn Benson, founder of Military Spouses of Michigan.
The Michigan's Multi Jurisdictional Mounted Police Drill Team also got to march in the parade.
"It was just amazing, this is the parade of all parades," said officer Paula Keena.
