Harmful bacteria cause beaches across Michigan to close

(WXYZ) - Staying cool in the heat wave just became harder with beaches closing across Michigan.

Environmental health students from the Beach Monitoring Program are testing beaches on a weekly basis measuring their bacteria levels for harmful organisms including E.Coli, and the survey has closed a few of Michigan's beaches, the list below:

  • Finish Day Camp at Lake Sun in Wixom
  •  Independence Oaks County Park at Lake Crooked in Independence
  • Pontiac Recreation Area at Lake Pontiac in White Lake
