Being tired is a complaint I hear all the time. Maybe you wake up sluggish or have difficulty concentrating on tasks.

You may struggle with an afternoon slump or find yourself with less patience and easily frustrated.

Are you getting through the day by relying on too much caffeine? Maybe it’s time for you to take a closer look at your lifestyle and learn healthier ways to increase your energy.

I often talk about what we eat because food is nourishment. It provides nutrients and energy.

But you need to eat a balanced diet.

If you fill up on simple carbs, your blood sugar will spike and then rapidly fall - leaving you feeling wiped out.

Getting a good night’s sleep is another step you should take to chase fatigue away. Make sleep a priority because not getting enough affects your mood, motivation and leaves you feeling exhausted.

Exercise should also be part of your lifestyle as it works wonders when it comes to energy. Yes, it may make you temporarily tired, but it strengthens your muscles and boosts your endurance.

You should also do something that feels meaningful to you every day.  Focusing on what matters will invigorate and bring happiness to you.

And spend time with friends and loved ones that think positively and share similar interests. This will help excite and energize you.

Everyone has a limited amount of daily energy.  So it’s important to focus on what lifts you up. As always, here are my prescriptions:

  1. Pay attention to your energy levels throughout the day, the people around you, and what you eat.  This helps you see who and what affects you.
  2. Focus on foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. They will stabilize your blood sugar and keep you feeling energized.
  3. Be sure to get seven to eight hours of sleep each night.
  4. Exercise 30 minutes a day, 5 days per week!

Don’t try to change everything all at once.

I want you to set small goals and start with the areas that mean the most to you. These steps can help you help you restore your energy and you’ll find that living a healthier lifestyle will kick fatigue out of your life for good.
