Heavy snow closes courts, municipal buildings across metro Detroit

(WXYZ) - The winter storm that dumped several inches of snow across metro Detroit has closed nearly 900 schools and districts as well as a number of courts and municipal buildings.

In Lansing the Michigan Hall of Justice which houses the Supreme Court, Lansing office of the Court of Appeals and the State Court Administrative office is closed Monday.

All Court of Appeals offices in Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids and Troy are closed. So is the Court of Claims. Any COA or COC filings that are due by Monday will be considered timely if filed by Tuesday. Any hearings scheduled for the Court of Claims on Monday are canceled.

The 36th District Court in Detroit is closed with the exception of felony arraignments which will take place at noon.

The Wayne County Circuit Court Criminal Division of the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice is also closed.

The City of Southfield municipal offices and library are closed due to the extreme weather. There will be no garbage pickup today, delaying all other pickups one day this week.

The 33rd District Court in Woodhaven, MI is closed as is the 47th District Court serving Farmington and Farmington Hills and the 39th District Court serving Roseville and Fraser.
