Suspects who crashed after high-speed chase wanted in auto theft ring

Michigan State Police say the suspects involved in a police chase that ended in a crash in Southfield were wanted for stealing tires and rims from cars in the metro area for over two years.

According to police, troopers tried to stop the suspects in Royal Oak around 9 p.m. Monday night as they saw the suspects trying to break into cars.

One suspect vehicle stopped at the scene while a second hit a Michigan State Police car when they tried to pull him over.

A pursuit was initiated, and it ended when the car lost control, flipped and crashed near 9 Mile and Greenfield.

One person inside the car was ejected from the vehicle and a second was temporarily trapped. He was freed and both were taken to the hospital in temporary serious condition.

In all, three suspects were arrested, all in their 30s and all from the metro Detroit area. Both vehicles they were driving in were reported stolen.

Michigan State Police say two people have been arrested after a high-speed police chase ended in a crash in Southfield early Tuesday morning.

According to police, southbound Greenfield is closed at 9 Mile while they investigate the rollover crash.

At least one person was taken to the hospital in the crash but we aren't told the extent of their injuries.

It's not clear why police were chasing the suspects.
