(WXYZ) - Social media has a big influence on all of us, but did you know that men and women use it for different reasons?

Breaking down the data, men are more likely to look for business and love on social media while women tend to go after games and knowledge.

Finances Online compiled survey data that showcased the gender differences on social media.

According to their findings, men are more likely to use social media for work and dating. That's right, 13 percent of men try and find love through social media compared to just 7 percent of women.

But, when it comes to staying in touch with friends, women take the lead in that category, they also are more likely to share photos and seek out self-help information.

Another interesting tidbit, men are more likely to scan coupons or QR codes on their smartphones, while women are more likely to like or follow a brand for deals.

One stat that may surprise you: 10 percent more women play games on their smartphones than men.
