(WXYZ) - Michigan State Police say they have reopened the I-96 WB and EB lanes at Davison after a structure fire had the freeway shut down for hours.
Plumes of smoke could be seen from the freeway miles away from the blaze.
Fire officials say the fire started shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday and within minutes, flames were shooting through the roof with black smoke billowing skyward.
"The section that they claim initially started this whole fire, nobody was in there. But, they were cutting on top of that particular section. It could have been an ember or anything that dropped down in there," said Detroit Fire Department Chief John King.
The owner of the business, Mahmoud Elzein, says this fire is a big blow and that he has no insurance.
