"This winter was bad.. we got ice about 18 inches thick," said Glenn Shannon who owns The Clamdiggers Lounge & Pizzeria along the River Raisin in Monroe where residents are keeping a close eye on the swollen river.
On Thursday, a Coast Guard cutter helped break up some of the ice on the river that was preventing the flow into Lake Erie.
Ice jams can quickly increase a river's water level in a short amount of time and with more rain in the forecast, Geoff Harrington is especially concerned.
Harrington owns Vince's West Elm Drive-in and several years ago he had three feet of water inside of his diner.
"You get a good rain and there's not much you can do," said Harrington.
