(WXYZ) - Taylor firefighters battled a house fire in the 9000 block of Rackham on Saturday.
The Taylor Fire Chief tells 7 Action News that a couple lives in the home. The woman and man were rushed to the hospital, according to officials.
"We're very early in the investigation." said Taylor Fire Chief Dan Reynolds, "We don't have a cause determined at this point. The Downriver Arson Task Force is here to do a thorough investigation to find the cause and origin."
Chief Reynolds says that the man injured is in critical condition.
Debi Burnham tried whatever she can do to help her friends save their pets. Burnham says the woman injured asked her to tell firefighters to look for her pets. Firefighters say all the pets inside were saved.
"I asked the firemen when they took her to the hospital to please find [her pets]." said Burnham, "Thank God for the Taylor firemen."
Crews say the investigation may prove the fire was an accident. But until that happens, firefighters are looking into every possible scenario.
