(WXYZ) - The sales are coming back and they're starting later this week!
J.C Penney will begin adding back the hundreds of sales it ditched last year.
JCP will add price tags or signs for more than half of its merchandise to show customer how much they're saving.
The department store hopes to lure back shoppers who disappeared when the discounts stopped.
A year ago JCP vowed to almost completely get rid of sales. The idea was to offer everyday low prices that customers could count on, instead of coupons, discounts and sales. The plan was to permanently cut prices on everything in the store by 40%.
The retailer suffered a big drop in sales over the past few years. Overall sales for the first nine months of last year fell by $2.7 billion.
