A judge has sentenced 30-year-old Jonathan Burks to 18 to 40 years in prison in connection to the death of 3-year-old A’naiya Montgomery.

Burks was found guilty of home invasion and felony firearm in the case.

The judge said he was responsible for mobilizing the shooter, and driving him to and from the scene.

Burks spoke in court apologizing for his role in the shooting.

A’naiya was killed Easter Sunday on Riverview near McNichols and Telegraph on Detroit's west side.

Neighbors told police a gunman kicked in the door and opened fire, shooting two men and killing A’naiya.

Three other suspects, including Burkes, were arrested in the case.

Investigators say one of them, Paul Kendall took his own life in the Wayne County Jail back in April.
