Jury finds Hazel Park man guilty on several counts in brutal attack on wife

A Hazel Park man has been found guilty on several counts in connection to the brutal attack on his wife.

Radu Vasile Muntean, 34, was facing multiple assault charges for the assault. 

He was found guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, unlawful imprisonment, felony firearm, torture, aggravated domestic violence. Muntean was found not guilty of assault with intent to murder and not guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon.

The 32-year-old woman was found bound, beaten and shot in a pickup truck back in March. A Grosse Pointe Park police officer who was working undercover noticed the truck in an empty field in Detroit.

Muntean, reportedly waved at the officer, and he went over to investigate.

Muntean allegedly flashed a fake badge and told the officer he ran out of gas. That's when the undercover cop spotted the the woman in the truck.

Muntean and his wife are from Hazel Park.

Authorities believe Muntean intended to dump her body in the field. His wife survived the assault.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Muntean with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, unlawful imprisonment, felonious assault, felony firearm and torture.
