Local group collecting bottled water for Flint

City under public health emergency

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A group of four is collecting bottled water to deliver to Flint. The city is under a Public Health Emergency after a recent study found elevated levels of lead in children's blood.

"Right now they are suffering with no water and a lot of the children at home don't have any water, so we need to reach out to everyone with a case of water," says Armena Pollard, who has family in Flint.

Anthony Scales, Raymond Carr, Clifton Sanders and Pollard have been taking truckloads full of water to Flint for about two weeks now and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

"As long as we're needed we're going to do it. I have no timetable on it and this is just our mission now," says Scales.

If you would like to donate water or help with transporting the water to Flint, contact Anthony Scales or Ray Carr via email: thedealcloser@att.net or raycarr80@gmail.com.
