(WXYZ) DETROIT - Wayne County Commissioner Laura Cox (R-Livonia) is renewing her plea for Robert Ficano to resign as Wayne County's CEO.
Cox has been a critic of Ficano since the 7 Action News Investigators exposed Turkia Mullin's $200,000 severance in September. In a written statement, Cox says she plans to introduce a resolution asking the county executive to immediately vacate his office.
"As the Ficano administration is being deluged with indictments, allegations of mismanagement, fraud, malfeasance, misfeasance, improper payouts and payoffs and various other scandals," says Cox, "the whole of Wayne County has become paralyzed by the misadventures of the appointees of Mr. Ficano."
Cox called the last seven months in Wayne County a "crisis of confidence."
Today's announcement comes on the heels of the a secret meeting among top county officials with Commission Chairman Gary Woronchak. The officials told Woronchak they wanted Ficano to fill a "leadership void in the county," or resign.
