DETROIT (WXYZ) - Sam Riddle, once a political power broker and former council member Monica Conyers' chief of staff, is now living in a Detroit halfway house where he'll finish his years-long prison sentence.
He pleaded guilty to bribery and was sentenced to 37-months in prison in 2010. His conviction was one of more than a dozen to come from the federal public corruption probe into city hall kickbacks; the same probe that led to the ongoing criminal trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and others.
Riddle is set to be released at the end of January. He'll finish up his sentence at the eastside halfway house, which is designed to help re-introduce him to society.
