CINCINNATI – A World War II veteran was hospitalized Sunday after police said he was attacked outside Good Samaritan Hospital.
Authorities said Paul Browning, 86, was outside the hospital near Dixmyth Avenue when the attack happened.
Browning was visiting his wife, who is recovering from a stroke, family members said.
Police arrested Craig Phelps, 30, after the incident. He was charged with cocaine possession, felony robbery, possession of drug instruments and damaging property. He is accused of breaking a car window.
He is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $25,000 bond until his next hearing scheduled Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m.
The attack left Browning swollen and bruised.
Family members told WCPO he is expected to remain hospitalized for a few days.
