2 Shot to Death By Police in Seperate Incidents

Last Update: 4/26/2009 7:29 pm

(WXYZ)- Michigan State Police say law enforcement officers shot two men to death in separate incidents near Battle Creek and Flint.

Troopers say a Calhoun County sheriff's deputy investigating a domestic dispute fatally shot a 51-year-old man shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday at a mobile home in Emmett Township, a mile southeast of downtown Battle Creek. They say the man was carrying a kitchen knife and was shot when he ignored the deputy's orders to drop it.

Trooper Marc Shore of the Flint post says a man in his 40s was shot dead about noon Saturday during a confrontation with a police officer in Burton, two miles east of downtown Flint. He says details likely won't be available until Monday.

The mens' and officers' names were not immediately released.
