Failing schools, corrupt city officials, and now a wasted island. When will the people in Detroit get some pride and say enough is enough? I can understand why people don't want to live in Detroit. I can also understand why businesses don't want to locate in Detroit. Charge people by the car load or close the island at a certain time. Once again I just want to thank all the hooligans for destroying what was once a great place to work, live, and play.

Make Belle Isle a Metro Park and charge a few bucks per car. This will fund the cleaning and upkeep, and keep some of the yahoos away.

When I was a youngster 40 years ago and lived in Detroit my parents and I would go to Belle Isle for a Saturday or Sunday picnic and spend most of the day and some of the night without fear of anything happening to us. Now I am afraid to go there during the day and would not be caught DEAD after dark because when it gets dark it really gets DARK!

Belle Isle used to be a beautiful place with a lot to offer. It is now a disgusting dirty and unkempt place. I say sink the island, it would be far better underground, then you don't have to deal with all the low-life people who go there to do drugs.
