(WXYZ) - The latest results from an exclusive Action News poll reveal which Detroit City Council candidates will be top of mind when voters choose a new council in November.
The Action News poll, conducted by polling firm EPIC-MRA, asked 400 likely Detroit voters to name the candidates for whom they plan to vote.
When voters choose a new City Council in November, they’ll pick 9 council members from a field of 18.
Three candidates were named by more than 10% of respondents as their first choice to be elected to the council.
Gary Brown, Ken Cockrel Jr., and Charles Pugh all polled above that 10% mark. Brown is best known as a former city police officer whose whistle blower lawsuit led to the downfall of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Cockrel currently serves as the council’s president and was briefly the mayor of Detroit following Kilpatrick’s fall. Pugh is best known as a television and radio personality.

Results carry a margin of error of +/- 4.9%. All polling was done between October 18 and October 20, 2009.
