Insurance of Slain Woman at Issue
The family of Detroit police Sgt. David Cobb is trying to get their hands on part of a $200,000 insurance policy on his dead wife Rose, even though he's the prime suspect in her murder.
The insurance company, Unnam, never paid out the claim to Cobb because he was under investigation in connection with her death.
Rose Cobb was shot to death as she sat in her car in a CVS parking lot in Detroit last December.
Self-proclaimed hit man Vincent Smothers was arrested and charged for his part in her death. He said Sgt. Cobb orchestrated the shooting and hired him to pull it off.
David Cobb killed himself last month.
Rose Cobb's family say they intend to fight the claim.
A hearing is set for December 8.
The Cobbs had no children.
