Just a couple of years ago, the last thing 71-year-old Joseph Moody wanted to talk about was his taxes.

That’s because he owed the IRS more than $1200 in back taxes and he didn't have the money to pay.

Joe discovered the "Accounting Aid Society” which is a non-profit tax help group with 25 offices in southeast Michigan.

This year, they will prepare the income tax returns for more than 10-thousand low and middle-income adults absolutely free of charge.

Most importantly, Accouting Aid Society volunteers like Rick Sanders specialize in trying to find as many legal tax credits and deductions for you as possible so you get more money back from the government.

That's especially important for the thousands of metro Detroiters who’ve lost their jobs this past year.

To qualify to have your taxes done for free, you must make $20,000 dollars a year or less as an individual and $42,000 or less as a married couple.
