DETROIT (WXYZ) - People who lost their homes to foreclosure, take heart. A lawsuit claims thousands of homes may have been taken illegally.
Forty-six former homeowners are in the first group of a class action lawsuit that claims their homes were taken illegally by Wayne County.
The lawsuit makes a number of allegations; most are technicalities. For example, documents that were supposed to be signed by the sheriff himself were signed by others in his place.
Attorney Paul Nicoletti says thousands of foreclosures that took place under former Sheriff Warren Evans could be impacted.
Nicoletti says four similar cases he filed resulted in families getting their homes back.
