SOUTHFIELD, MICH. (WXYZ) - A private school that's been around for many years has suddenly closed its doors, and several families are out thousands of dollars in pre-paid tuition.
WATCH CHERYL CHODUN'S REPORT IN THE VIDEO PLAYER ON THE RIGHTDan and Nina Casey are devastated. They've lost nearly $12,000 and a school for their two young children, Sean and Jade, and that's because the Romeo Montessori School, which the Casey's loved and where they wanted their children to be, has filed for bankruptcy and closed without much notice, not before many families paid tuition, though.
The sign on the door tells the story: no summer camp, no fall classes, file a claim for your money. It's reported the school will auction off everything inside to help pay its debts. Will the parent ever be reimbursed? That remains be be seen.
