(WXYZ) - Now that Ohio voters have given their approval, four new casinos will soon be built across Michigan’s border in the Buckeye State. Surprisingly, one of the people helping to create this Midwest gaming competition is former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, the man who played an important role in bringing three casinos to the Motor City.
So why is Archer teaming up with Detroit businessmen Dan Gilbert and Matt Cullen to help boost the casino business and economic development in a neighboring state?
In an exclusive interview with Channel 7’s Editorial Director Chuck Stokes, Archer reveals why he is investing his money in out-of-state gaming and defends his right to do so.
During the lengthy interview, Archer also denies he is turning his back on Detroit and answers many of the questions raised in an earlier Action News story by Channel 7 investigative reporter Heather Catallo.
