FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - People with loved ones in the military listened to the president's message with not only their eyes and ears, but also with their hearts.
Bill and Dawn Pyant of Farmington Hills watched and listened to President Obama with great interest because their daughter-in-law, Jayana Pyant, is already in Afghanistan, and their son, Captain William Pyant, is overseas and could be sent there at anytime.
They are concerned, of course, but say they support the president's plan.
Jayana and William have been married only six months, and Mom and Dad say they know their son worries about his wife all the time.
"I'm very much looking forward to them both coming back," says Bill, "alive, safe, well, unmaimed and unharmed."
Most of all, Bill and Dawn say they liked hearing the president talk about troop withdrawal from Afghanistan starting in July of 2011, and they pray for safety to all military personnel between now and then.
