Detroit Public Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb confirmed that seven teenagers were shot, and all are believed to be summer school students. The victims range in age from 14 to 19.
Four of the victims were taken to Henry Ford Hospital. None of them had life-threatening injuries, and two of those victims were released from the hospital Tuesday night.
The other three victims were rushed to Sinai-Grace Hospital. Bobb told Action News that all of them underwent surgery. They are in critical condition.
Police later recovered a green minivan about a mile away that they believed the gunmen used to flee.
It was the second shooting in as many weeks near a Detroit Public school offering free summer school classes.
The shooting may have stemmed from a fight in the school Monday, according to witnesses.
