ADRIAN, Mich. (WXYZ) - A husband and wife were killed after their plane when down in a field in Raisin Township.
The 911 call came in at 4:31 Friday afternoon and some of the witnesses say when the plane was going down it looked like one of the wings was dangling or broken.
"I'm shook up and nervous about it; it's a terrible tragedy," said Jill Fain, who was first on the scene. The single-engine plane went down in a field far behind her home on Highway M-52.
Raisin Township and Lenawee County rescue workers raced to the crash site but the plane, reported to be an Aero Commander four-seater out of Pennsylvania, was by then fully engulfed in flames.
The sheriff says a husband and wife, believed to be in their 50s, were the only ones on board and both died in the crash. It is reported that they were coming from Pennsylvania to Adrian to visit relatives. The crash site is about four miles from the airport.
