Woman Charged with Blowing up Ex's Car

Police Make Arrest in Car Bombing
(WXYZ) - Detroit Police say a woman used commercial fireworks to blow up her ex-husband's car near Fenkell and Wyoming on Detroit's west side.

Doris Cabean-Giles, 42, was arraigned for planting explosives causing damage. That's a 30-year felony.

She is accused of placing huge commercial fireworks in her ex-husband's Mercury Cougar.

The force of the explosion literally blew off the roof of the vehicle.

The incident happened on September 3rd.

Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans says she is lucky she wasn't killed herself.

When Cabean-Giles turned herself in she still had shrapnel in her back. She was too scared to go to the doctor because she was afraid people would know immediately what she had done.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
