Gallup CEO Jim Clifton tells Mackinac audience that Americans don't love their jobs

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) - Jim Clifton runs the company that’s been asking people questions for 80 years.

He’s the chairman and CEO of Gallup, Inc. – the polling company.

The well-known Gallup Poll primarily gauges Americans’ opinions on their own health and wellbeing.

Clifton spoke at the Mackinac Policy Conference Wednesday. He told 7 Action News anchor Stephen Clark that his polls have discovered only 20% of Americans feel energized by their jobs. Fifty percent are apathetic and 30% are downright miserable with the work they do.

Clifton told the Mackinac attendees that creating good jobs is at least as important as creating jobs. He also says Michigan business and political leaders need to identify and test school kids in the Detroit area.
