FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A budding relationship swiftly turned sour after an altercation at a gas station in Ferndale.
Jeffrey Tyron Jackson is in jail after being charged with trying to kidnap a woman he was dating.
It happened early Wednesday morning at the Citgo station on 8 Mile and Pinecrest in Ferndale.
According to police, Jackson was on a date when he tried to steal his would-be girlfriend’s car at gunpoint.
Their relationship seemed to be going fine until all of this.
“Her description of this man was that he treated her well until this day and he just turned,” said Lt. William Wilson of the Ferndale Police Department.
Store surveillance captured the bizarre incident.
A white car pulls up and the young 21-year-old victim gets out. She goes into the store and asks for help.
According to police, the woman indicated that he was trying to steal her car, had a gun and would not let her go.
Jackson is seen following the woman into the store. They spend a couple of minutes near the store entrance then both leave.
The clerk then called 911 for help. Police arrived on the scene and arrested Jackson.
