Man arrested at Detroit Metro Airport after a firearm was discovered in his carry-on

ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A man was arrested at Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport (DTW) after a loaded firearm was found in his carry-on luggage.

The loaded .380 caliber L.W. Seecamp firearm was discovered by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) who immediately contacted the Wayne County Airport Police.

They urge passengers to check their carry-on items thoroughly to avoid bringing prohibited items such as firearms as well as their parts and ammunition.

Fines for attempting to bring firearms in carry-on luggage range from $1,500 to $11,000 for a single penalty.

This is the 14th time a firearm has been discovered in carry-on luggage this year at DTW.
