(WXYZ) - A 60-year-old Waterford man is dead after shoveling snow today.
The Waterford Township Fire Department said when the responded to the 9-1-1 call the man was already laying on his driveway unconscious and in cardiac arrest. A bystander was performing CPR. The emergency crew put the man in the ambulance to transport him to the hospital and used the defibrillator on him a couple of times.
The man died at the hospital.
Captain John Lyman advises anyone feeling chest pain while shoveling snow to call 9-1-1. He recommended people take breaks when shoveling snow every ten minutes, especially if they are not in the best health.
He also advises neighbors to keep an eye on one another when shoveling in this kind of weather.
The 60-year-old did not have any known health problems.
