Man at home shoots, kills intruder in Inkster

(WXYZ) - Sources tell 7 Action News a a man shot and killed an intruder in Inkster on Thursday evening.

Police say the man saw people loading what he thought were his belongings into their car outside of the home on Glenwood.

The man was not the homeowner and was renting the home at the time.

When he confronted them, one of the suspects began firing at him. Police say the man pulled out his gun and shot the suspect, who later died at the hospital.

The man was also shot in the leg during the exchange, and is in the hospital in serious condition.

Police say the suspect who was killed was 23 years old, and was with several others at the time.

According to the police chief, the other people who were with the suspect got away, and the department, along with other agencies are stepping up patrols and providing special attention to the corner where the robbery happened.
