After a very limited release on Saturday led to backlash across the country, McDonald's is promising "Rick and Morty" fans more Szechuan Sauce is coming.

The company released sauce for one day only on Saturday, but it was such a limited release that fans waiting for several hours weren't able to get the sauce. That caused a lot of backlash on social media.

It was originally released in 1998 as part of a promotion for the Disney film "Mulan." In the "Rick and Morty" episode, Rick Sanchez goes back in time to get the sauce.

"Our super-limited batch, though well-intentioned, clearly wasn't near enough to meet that demand," the company said in a release. "So, we're gonna make this right. In the last 24 hours, we've worked to open any portal necessary. And it worked.

"Szechuan Sauce is coming back once again this winter. And instead of being one-day-only and limited to select restaurants, we’re bringing more—a lot more—so that any fan who’s willing to do whatever it takes for Szechuan Sauce will only have to ask for it at a nearby McDonald’s," they added.
