Metro Detroit church bans accused sex offender from grounds

A church in Waterford has banned an accused sex offender from its grounds.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office confirms that Richard Hoffman, 58, was arrested on July 1. He is facing charges including one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under age 13 and six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13. 

Hoffman was reportedly a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church choir.

Church officials sent home a letter to parishioners regarding Hoffman. Read it below:

The sheriff's office says the charges are related to one alleged victim with reported incidents in Waterford and White Lake townships.
