The Oakland County Sheriff's Office say a golf club employee who pulled a gun and opened fire was taken down by several golfers at a golf course in Oakland County over the weekend.

According to deputies, it happened at Heather Highlands Golf Club on Holly Rd. in Springfield Township.

Deputies say the cook for the course confronted a group of golfers over their removal of empty beer cans from the golf course property and the golfers bringing their own alcohol on the course.

The cook was recording the heated confrontation on his cell phone when one of the golfers knocked his phone out of his hand.

Deputies say the cook, a valid Concealed Pistol License holder, then pulled a gun from his waistband and fired a round into the ground. We're told he was not aiming at anyone, but there were a number of people in the area.

The golfers then rushed the cook and there was a fight as they disarmed him.

The golfers then waited for sheriff deputies to arrive.

The Springfield Township Fire Department and Oakland County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene. The cook was taken to the hospital for minor injuries he sustained during the fight and then placed under arrest.

We're told a warrant has been signed charging the 45-year-old Grand Blanc man with reckless discharge of a firearm and felonious assault.

The investigation is ongoing into the actions of others, including the golfer who knocked the phone out of the cook's hand.
