Michigan Farm Bureau to endorse U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow

(WXYZ) - For her tireless efforts to support Michigan farmers and help them grow the state's economy, the Michigan Farm Bureau will announce Thursday, September 20, that it is endorsing U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow. The organization will also be working to help her continue to stand up for Michigan in the United States Senate.

According to a Michigan Farm Bureau spokesperson, the group is supporting Senator Stabenow because she has effectively fought on behalf of Michigan's hard working farmers and ranchers, and is helping them create Michigan jobs.

Agriculture is the second largest sector of Michigan's economy, supporting nearly one in four jobs in the state.  Many rural communities in every corner of the state are built on farming and ranching.  Agriculture also creates bio-manufacturing, processing, retail and other jobs in the state's urban areas.

Stabenow, of Lansing, is running against  former West Michigan Congressman and republican Pete Hoekstra in the upcoming November 5 election. You can get complete election coverage right here on WXYZ.com and on air that day on Channel 7 Action News.
