Police raid a medical clinic in Dearborn this morning, arresting the doctor and the office manager.

The clinic is on Warren Avenue and near Yinger.

Neighbor Sam Sales said, "Shame, shame, shame for a doctor."

Neighbor tells us it is a disgrace that a doctor at the Dearborn Medical Clinic is accused of running a pill factory.

Police arrested Dr. Mohammad Derani and the clinic's office manager Thursday morning.

Lt. Mike Shaw of Michigan State Police said, "It's guys like this that give doctors a bad name."

Police got tipped of a month ago by neighbors who were tired of seeing people waiting outside the clinic in the early morning hours.

"When you see a clinic that's closed and people are actually lined up around the block  sitting in lawn chairs like they are waiting for Best Buy to open on Thursday or the day before Thanksgiving. That's a problem," Shaw explained.

Police tell us the doctor has written half a million pain killer prescriptions since January, which they say is five times the average.

Police and neighbors say doctors who are accused of this contribute to the opioid epidemic, which can lead to overdoses.

Saleh added,"To give medication to people to help people but not to kill kids. That's what they are doing here."

Mohamed Hacham says he is one of the many people who took pictures and video to send to police.

He said, "This just doesn't seem normal."

"When you got people lined up at 3 o'clock in the morning, could you imagine living in a neighborhood where cars are running up and down the streets and people are relieving themselves on your front lawn," Shaw asked.

State officials say the doctor was among the top pain pill prescribers.

His state medical license has now been suspended.

Hacham added,"I'm happy for the neighbors that don't have to deal with stuff anymore. I'm just happy for the city of Dearborn."

The clinic is now shut down.

The doctor and office manager are waiting to be arraigned.

If you are a patient of this clinic and you need to access your medical files, officials say to contact the Attorney General's Criminal Division department at 313-456-0180.
