DETROIT (AP) - University of Michigan officials say all upperclassmen on the men's swimming and diving program have been
suspended for a week following an unspecified violation of team rules.
Athletic Director Dave Brandon said in a statement Friday that the team members "acted in a manner that was inconsistent" with university rules, policies and expectations.
School spokesman Dave Ablauf said the suspensions affect all sophomores, juniors and seniors. He didn't have an exact number, but estimated it represents about 25 team members.
Ablauf declined to discuss the nature of the rule violations.
Junior Connor Jaeger finished sixth in the 1,500-meter freestyle event last month at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London, England.
The university says additional disciplinary action will be handled within team.
